Executive decision

22 08 2008

I had completely forgotten that it is a Bank Holiday on Monday and being as I have been feeling very tired this past week, I have made a last minute decision to have today off too.

I shall be spending the day out with the dog and a dear friend who I haven’t seen for a few months, we are going to walk along one of the Thames pathways as far as we are able to and then retreat to a pub for a well earned drink and some food.

Fingers crossed I shall be back later, slightly muddier than I am now and a bit more chilled out.

Communication Breakdown?

17 08 2008

I would say that the chances of me having a communication breakdown are somewhat slim, based on the following -

As is usual I needed to tidy my office at home, because I’d misplaced some paperwork somewhere in the detritus of the chaos known as the Oxford branch of my empire. Ignoring the computer with its multiple screens, I seem to be remarkably able to be contacted by various people.

Not content with my mobile phone, I also now have a Blackberry which is used not only for mobile email, but also for one particular group of customers to be able to get hold me. If for some reason I really need to be found, then I have a pager (generally used for some out of hours work). Then I have my new 3G USB stick for my laptop so that I can get online wherever I may be, my laptop itself and then my IP phone. The IP phone generally confused people, as they sometimes cannot fathom that my London phone number rings to me in either Oxford or Bournemouth and never London.

I am going to have to swap my normal mobile for something a little bit smaller, carrying two bulky phones around is a bit of a pain in the backside. Fingers crossed that at some point in the next six months I can take some more people on and delegate some more work away.
