Enforced absence
21 09 2007I’ve been a tardy blogger, in fact I’ve even been a tardy commenter on the blogs that I read too. The answer as to why actually boils down to several things. Firstly, getting ready for, then participating and then winding down after the race took a lot more out of me than I expected. The preparation was hectic, the four weeks before the chequered flag dropped were a blur of activity, the race weekend itself was a blur with testing, qualifying and then the race itself - I am told I spent 23 hours on the pit wall co-ordinating the team and strategy, then of course it was all over and suddenly there was a void.
I had promised not to discuss 2008 racing activity with the car builders for a couple of weeks, that lasted from Sunday evening as we were breaking down the pit garage until Tuesday! So planning is now in full swing already.
The difficult thing has been keeping the normal business growing at the rate it needs to. Luckily I have started to get a good team of people who can work without me. However it looks like the racing activities next year will cost £200k+ to do everything that we want to do. If we cannot find sponsors to cover that, then I’ll make the difference up through the business. To be able to that I need to ensure I have the cash available to do so, so I have dived right in to really push things forward at an acceptable rate of knots.
